The University of São Paulo (USP) has a leading role within Brazilian academia with regard to scientific research and an established university infrastructure. In line with the UK- Brazil Year of Science and Innovation, USP and the Consul for Science and Innovation at the British Consulate General were interested in strengthening USP’s technology transfer capabilities and forming collaborative work with Oxford. For this purpose, four members of USP’s Innovation Agency worked at Oxford University Innovation on a one-month secondment. Their visit included hands-on learning about IP protection and technology transfer project management, licensing, spin-outs and deals, lessons from the Technology Transfer market, and implementing successful internal marketing.
